I am an Ontario based creator who wears many, many hats (stacked right on top of each other) who has recently gotten into designing and developing games. I love animals, monsters, folktales, and games (obviously).
In my body of work both as an artist and a writer, I tend to explore monsters and the perceptions around them. I use my lived experience as a marginalized individual to create images of monsters that echo my experience of existing in a state of flux, where an identity is never truly fixed and is always defined by the dominant power as Other and in opposition to the laws of nature. I create images of monsters that show both their common perception as well as the questions surrounding their identities and their actions. I create images that ask you to confront the monster and come away with a deeper sense of understanding of yourself.
In 2017 I was awarded the Dr. Annie Smith Award, and in 2018 I was awarded the Visual Culture and Communication Prize.
